
Service Provided
We provide a quality Early Learning and Care Service for children aged between 1 year to 2 years 8 months and a School Aged Childcare Service for Primary School Children. There is school bus transport for children attending St John’s NS, Sligo School Project, and Our Lady of Mercy Primary School. Our School Aged Childcare also facilitates Out of Term Programmes e.g. during Easter, Summer and Halloween.
In our Caltragh Premises we provide Early Childhood Care and Education Scheme (ECCE) which is a universal two-year pre-school programme for 3 hours a day 5 days a week for 38 weeks of the year to all children within in the eligible age range.
We provide breakfast, healthy snacks, and dinner daily. Drinks are available throughout the day if a child feels thirsty. The children in our School Aged Childcare have the opportunity to participate in baking in our designated School Aged Childcare kitchen.
The Early Learning and Care Room
The Early Learning and Care Room caters for 10 children during our morning (9:15am- 12:46pm) and afternoon (1:15pm-4:46pm) sessions for children aged between 1 year and 2 years 8 months with a staff to child ratio of 1:5. All our staff are experienced, trained professionals who design the activities based on each child’s age and stage of development, activities include but are not limited to:
• Sand and water play
• Playdough
• Finger painting
• Treasure baskets
• Song and rhythm time
ECCE Preschool Room
The ECCE room caters for 20 children from 9:30- 12:30. Our dedicated experienced staff support child lead activities by providing age-appropriate toys and equipment and a stimulating environment to encourage physical, intellectual, emotional and social development.
School Aged Childcare
School Aged Childcare (Afterschool) caters for 26 children from 1:30pm – 5:15pm. All our staff are experienced, trained professionals who strive to provide a safe home away from home environment for all children. All children are supported to reach their full potential through 1-to-1 homework support and age appropriate indoor and outdoor activities.
Activities include but are not limited to:
* One-to-one homework support
* Baking
* Playdough
* Outdoor activities
* Arts and Craft
Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club is operated by experienced and trained staff who provide a nutritious breakfast for each child. Children engage in age appropriate activities while waiting to transition from the service to school. Children are escorted to school in the service’s bus and a designated member of our Childcare team remain in the school yard with children until they enter the school building.
Outdoor Play
All our Childcare Services provide opportunities for children to explore the community around them. The service has its own enclosed play area with age appropriate equipment to boost children’s physical development.
